Summer Time at CV
Over 60 people from Croydon Vineyard are heading off to Dreaming The Impossible (DTI) this weekend. DTI is Vineyard's summer youth festival where 3,000+ teenagers descend on Staffordshire Showground to worship, laugh and try to enjoy camping in the rain. It is a massive venture not only for our Movement but also for us as a church. Imagine the impact it would have if over 60 of us had profound life-changing experiences with Jesus this next week. We would therefore love you to be praying for DTI this next week, if you get a moment to do so.
The rhythm of the Old Testament festivals pushed Israel continually into seasons; times of hard work, times of contending, times of rest and thanksgiving. We are praying that many of you find this summer to indeed be a time of real replenishing and thankfulness. Our new preaching series is trying to give us some clear practical ways to do that; Jesus told us that life would be full of trouble but he showed us how we can triumph even in the midst of them. We would love you to engage with that series and really ask Jesus what he is wanting to say to you through it.
We are also launching a Summer Reading Challenge to coincide with our New Testament Journey reaching the gospel of Matthew. Each week day from Monday 9th August, why not join our podcast to listen to one chapter each day, and some of Tom's accompanying thoughts, or by reading the chapter on your own in the translation of your choice? The psalmist tells us that those who spend time meditating on God's word become like a tree planted by a fresh-flowing river and so we encourage you that this simple habit can yield immense goodness for you, if you persist in it and allow the Spirit to speak to you as you read.
Finally we want to flag up the many and various things that are going on this summer. While many of our small groups are taking a bit of a break it is a great time to check out some of the other events going on.
We love you and are praying for you,
much affection
Tom and Lesley
