Sundays at Harris

A Church family notice:

At CV we want to raise Sons and Daughters who follow Jesus Christ.  We want this to be a safe place for our sons and daughters who are under 18.  

On a Sunday we only have hire of certain rooms at Harris.  We have hire of the hall here and the kids/youth rooms until 12:30. Harris is an open venue and several other groups hire the building at the same time as CV.  This means there are non-CV people legitimately using the same building as us.  The car park is also very close to the exit of the building.

We have exclusive use of the rooms we have hired but not the shared spaces like the coridoors and toilets. Our kids/youth teams ensure that once kids/yp are registered they are supervised in both exclusive and shared areas.

So we just want to remind you that before and after kids/youth groups, parents are responsible for their own children at all times.  We love that our under 18s feel so at home that they want to move around the building but we would request that they need to be in the main service area or in the courtyard. A great way of encouraging that is to bring games or activities to help occupy them - we encourage activities that facilitate interaction between the kids/youth because these times really build into church family and community and positive peer relationships. There is something really precious about it - but it does need to happen in the main service room, or in the courtyard.

It takes a village to raise a child. So we can all work together as a church family to build a safe and nurturing environment for our under 18s by being vigilant and pro-active.  So if any of us see under 18s in areas that are un-supervised, we can be church family to them by gently reminding them of the safe spaces they should be in with their parents before & after their group times - which is in the main hall or on the courtyard.

If we can do this, we can together raise sons and daughters in a safe space so that they can grow and become more and more like Jesus.
